**Notes and Homework**
Quarter 4 April 20 through June 30, 2009
This semester our focus will be preparation for the EOGs and extensive research before and after a novel study. The novel we will read is entitled Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse. Please check schoolnotes nightly for homework assignments.
*Please Note: Schoolnotes is not intended to take the place of the agenda! Plans may change depending on the time it takes for a particular class to complete assignments or changes in our schedule at school. All assignments, requirements, and grading rubrics will be explained to students in class.
Monday, April 20 - Friday, April 24, 2009
This week will be specifically devoted to EOG practice. Students will continue with a start up journal and grammar activity each class session.
Homework will be limited this week but will increase significantly once the novel is introduced.
Monday, April 27 - Friday, May 1, 2009
Classes will start the week with more EOG practice. On Tuesday, classes will study the Dust Bowl, a common name applied to a large area in the southern part of the Great Plains region of the United States, much of which suffered extensively from wind erosion in the 1930s. This Dust Bowl study will help prepare students for our novel study. Then novel is entitled Out of the Dust by Karen Hesse. Novels will be supplied and used only during class. Parents may wish to purchase a copy for their child.
Quizzes will be given throughout the reading of the novel. Some of the quizzes will be unannounced.
