Nov. 18--Students were put into groups and did an analogy activity with one of the cell organelles.  Homework is simply to continue working on the writing assignment.

Nov. 17--Students took a notebook quiz and turned in their intros.  They then cleared their notebooks, and set up a new TOC and Intro page.  They were then given a writting assignment to be turned in NOV. 25TH.  (our field trip is the 24th)  Students then began looking a cells, identifying the parts and defining each of the organelles, this assignment is to be completed for homework.

Nov. 5--Students worked on a web quest today on Tornadoes and hurricanes.  Projects are due for core 3 and 4 tomorrow and core 1 and 2 on Friday.  Core1 will take the first blue diamond tomorrow.  Field Trip permission forms are due on Friday for all students.  We still need payment or partial payment as soon as possible.  Report Cards go home on Friday.

Oct. 31--Today is the end of the first nine weeks.  Students had their PBS Quarterly reward yesterday.  Wed. all students received guidelines for a weather observation project that is due NOV. 6.  Ms. Savage has given them weather data for 2 of the 3 consecutive days that they need.  Students are to complete the project during the next few days.

Oct. 24--Students received the field trip forms for the Museum of Natural Science trip (Nov. 24th), yesterday.  Permission slips are due by NOV. 7TH.  Because of economic concerns and since this trip could be expensive to some ($14), students will have until Nov. 20th to turn in money, and we will accept installment plans.  If you can afford to include some extra money for students that can not afford the trip, please help.  We will also need 1 chaperone per 10 students, so if you are registered as a Wake Co. Volunteer and would like to come please send in the letter that came with the permission slip.  Core 1--Have a worksheet and test corrections to complete for homework.

Oct. 21--Students in core 2-4 had their tests returned.  Students must copy the question, and determine the right answer and write it in words, not "A" for one point credit for number corrected.  Students may also receive 2 additional points for having it signed by a parent.  We will be working on weather factors and observations, a big help will be to watch the weather at least once everyday,  or check it on the web.  WRAL has a very educational web site.

Oct. 16--Cores 2-4 need to study for their test.  Core 1 will take their test on Tuesday.

Oct. 13--Students will have a test on composition of the atmosphere, atmospheric layers, density, pressure, heat transfer, energy in earth's atmosphere and temperature on Friday, Oct. 16.  Students should begin studying now.

Oct. 6th--Core 1--Review page 5.  Core 2--Complete foldable and page 7 questions.  Core 3--Complete page 8.  Core 4--Use page 57 to label the layers of the atmosphere on the back of page 6 in their notebook.

Oct. 2nd--Students did the collapsing can lab.  Have your child explain what we did.  Tomorrow, students will complete going over pages 5 and 6 and begin a "foldable" on the layers of the atmosphere.

Sept. 30--Miss Savage taught two classes today.  She is working in to taking over the full load of classes.  It may be next week until she is ready.  She may begin with a few of the more challenging classes as a co-teacher.  Students should complete page 5 for homework if they have not completed it.

Sept. 29--I still have quite a few interims that have not been signed and returned.  Please make sure you have signed the reports in all classes.  Many students did not do their homework over the weekend.  They need to complete that for half credit tonight.  By Thursday, students need to bring a rinsed out drink can to class to complete an activity.

Sept. 26--Interim reports went home in 4th core.  If you have not seen your child's interim, for me, it is lime green and should be clipped in their notebook.  You should be able to find it at a glance if you haven't seen it.  Students had a lab in class and if they worked quickly and focused, they had time to complete the questions on the back.  If not they have HOMEWORK THIS WEEKEND TO COMPLETE THE CALCULATIONS AND ANSWER THE QUESTIONS 1-5 ON THE BACK.

Sept. 25--PM update:  Core 4 DID NOT GET INTERIMS TODAY.  THIS IS THE ONLY CLASS THAT DID NOT GET INTERIMS.

Sept. 25--Early release today.  INTERIM REPORTS GO HOME IN ALL CLASSES.  GETTING THE INTERIMS SIGNED AND RETURNED COUNTS AS A GRADE.  Students should read through the lab for tomorrow and should complete page 5 in their notebook for homework.

Sept. 24--Cores 1-3 should complete test corrections tonight and get their scantron form signed.  Tomorrow is early release.

Sept. 23--I'm sorry for not posting after the 17th.  Students had to study for the test which was on Friday.  After the test, they were told to make sure they had all their intros and their notebook organized and complete.  I was absent on Monday and students had SSR (as always)and then set up a "new" notebook behind their old one and were given page 3 and had pages in their textbook to read.  If they did not finish, they were supposed to complete it for homework.  Many students did not complete it for homework.  Today, students took their notebook quiz on their "old notebook" and turned in their intros.  The old notebook should be put in a "box of stuff" at home in case they need anything from the notebook when interims come out.  Students should complete page 3 and we will go over it tomorrow.  Interims go home on Thursday.

Sept. 17--Students should be studying for their test on Friday.  Core 1 should finish the front of page 11.  Core 2 should complete both sides of page 10.  Core 3 should complete front of page 11.  Core 4 should complete the back of page 10.

Sept. 15--Finally we are not tracking a hurricane for a while.  Hopefully, hurricane season will come to a quiet end.  First Test on Safety, Safety Symbols and the Scientific Method will be on Friday Sept. 19th.  Open House is Sept. 18th.  We will be beginning the atmosphere this week as we complete the scientific method.

Sept. 11--All students should read through their notebook and make sure it is organized and complete.

Sept. 10--Core 2 needs to get safety contract signed for tomorrow.  Students will have a test on Safety, Safety Symbols and the scientific method the end of next week.

Sept. 8--Core 3 needs to get the safety contract signed tonight.  Cores 1, 2, and 4 need to have it signed on Tuesday night.

Sept. 5--Watch Storm information

Sept. 4--No Written homework.  Watch storm information.

Sept. 3--No written homework tonight, but students should try to watch weather this evening and tomorrow morning to get information on the Alantic storms.

Sept. 2--Our intro activity today was things that we should be doing now if Hurricane Hanna impacts North Carolina.  I will be giving out inexpensive tips this week...The big thing now is to keep up with the storm predictions and get your batteries now.  Page 5 should be completed.  Your child's notebook should have 5 science pages at this time.

Aug. 30th--I LOOKED OUT MY BACK DOOR AND WHAT DID I SEE????  IT WAS ELVIS OUR ESCAPED TEAM MASCOT THAT HAS BEEN LOOSE IN APEX SINCE AUG. 13TH.  HE LOOKS NONE THE WORSE FOR WEAR AND I WILL BE BRINGING HIM TO SCHOOL ON TUESDAY WHERE HE CAN RESUME HIS POSITION AS "THE KING" IN THE CLASSROOM.

Aug. 29th--We made it through the first week without too many problems.  Please ask you children how their week went.  If students did not have their letter to me today, (except for core 2), it needs to be completed and turned in on Tuesday.

Aug. 28th--Unfortunately, many students are earning their first 0 in science today.  Please review the class information sheet (page 3 in the science section of their notebook)about grades and late work with your students.  Many students did not get the information sheet signed by you as homework on the 26.  They receive a 50 if it is signed today, but many still don't have it signed.  All classes need to write their final copy of the letter to me tonight for homework.

Aug. 27th--We are beginning to get through the beginning of school material.  We had "Team Talk" with Ms. Sparrow today and that caused the rest of the day to kind of be out of whack.  Core 1 is the only class that has homework today.  They are to write a letter to me following the sample to tell me about them.

Aug. 26th--Students should get their class information sheet signed.  Many students did not get all their sheets signed to get a locker.  There are 7 sheets that need signing are: parent contact (yellow), 7th grade discipline plan, FIRE matrix, Student Release form, food permission, photography permission and the front page of the Wake Co. handbook.

Aug. 25th--Welcome to a new year!  All students on the team should have received a packet of information.  A lot of the information needs to be signed and returned before a locker can be issued.  Please make sure that the information on the team contact and school release sheet is complete and accurate.  If there are any changes during the school year. please let the school know.  There is no specific homework for science tonight.
