Jan. 4:  Finish "proof" sheet, and begin work on vocab. unit 2 which is due Thursday, 1/7.  The vocab. quiz is Friday, 1/8.  The "proof" sheet is due tomorrow.
Jan. 5:  We will go to the library Wed. to exchange books.  Students had HBJ grammar to work on in class today.  Vocab. unit 2 is due Thursday, and the quiz is Friday.

Jan. 6:  Vocab. unit 2 is due tomorrow, and the quiz is Friday.  Students also should be able to show some HBJ work on kinds of sentences, subjects, and predicates from class.  We are working on fact and opinion as well, and there will be a test next week on fact and opinion.

Jan. 7:  Study for the vocab. quiz which is tomorrow.  If for some reason there is no school due to weather, the vocab. quiz would be the next school day.

Jan. 8:  If absent, you may take the vocab. quiz when you return.  "Reliable authority" sheet is due Monday.

Jan. 11:  The fact and opinion test is Thursday.  Students are working on handouts in class and have those to study.  The draft of the paper which was returned to you today should be brought back Tuesday.  If you did not work on the paper in class, then you do have to start from scratch (extra copy of directions given today).  You will need your brown book Tuesday.

Jan. 12:  The yellow, 2-sided fact and opinion sheet is due Wed., and the literary terms paper is due Friday.  If you are working in a group on the paper, be sure you have decided who will do what.  Also, all students have a lavender sheet which details reading and questions that are due on different days next week.  I strongly suggested that students not wait until the holiday weekend to do this work in the brown lit. book.  Expect quizzes on the reading.***Fact/opinion test 1/14; grammar test next week on HBJ

Jan. 13:  Study for the fact/opinion test which is tomorrow.  The literary terms paper is due Friday; if you are working in a group, be sure you have your materials ready.  ****Begin working on the lavender sheet of reading; you will need the brown book.  Be ready for quizzes on the reading, and remember question answers are due next week.  If absent, we have been working on HBJ grammar in class.

Jan. 14:  The literary terms paper is due tomorrow.  HBJ grammar from class is also due.  Remember to work on the lavender sheet of reading assignments.  "Columbus"  answers are due Tuesday; you may have a quiz.  The grammar test is next Thursday.  You have your notes from class and the practice.

Jan. 15:  HBJ from class is due Tuesday; students had time in class to do this.  The grammar test is next Thursday, and students have notes and practice to study.  The lavender sheet of brown book reading is due next week, starting with the "Columbus" poem on
Tuesday--p.144-145.  

Jan. 19:  Complete the review sheet to get ready for the grammar test.  That test is Thursday using notes, and the review sheet is due tomorrow.  Bring the HBJ exercises from class back --p.42-43.  Have your Pilgrim answers ready--Prentice Hall p. 164-165.  See your lavender sheet of directions; you have known about the reading for a week.

Jan. 20:  The grammar test is Thursday; you may use your notes and review sheet if you bring them to class. See above for reading info.

Jan. 21:  Pilgrim answers are still due, and Tubman answers are due Friday as well.  You have the written directions.

Jan 22:  There was a quiz on "Columbus," we are in the process of discussing the Pilgrims.  Tubman and King answers are due.  You have the written directions.  Remember to be reading your AR book.

Jan. 25:  Finish the 2-column notes from class on Tubman; you may use the book.  Bring the notes to class on Tuesday.  Also, bring back the Tubman answers and Martin L. King answers.

Jan. 26:  Complete the compare sheet on Lincoln and Douglass; bring back King answers Wed. ***Tubman quiz on Thursday, Jan. 28

Jan. 27:  Bring back any items from Wed. that we did not get to in class.  We had to spend time on the next writing topic.  Also, make a list of reasons to use animals in lab experiments and one for not using them.  The Tubman quiz will have to be moved to Friday instead of tomorrow.

Jan. 28:  Study for the Tubman quiz which is multiple choice; you will get to use your book if you bring it to class.  Bring back the for and against animal list and the King answers.

Jan. 29:  The draft of the persuasive animal paper is due Monday, Feb. 1.  Students had time in class to work on the paper, and we made a list of for and against ideas.  If there is no school on Monday, the paper draft is due the next day we have school.

Feb. 5:  The persuasive paper is due next Wed., Feb. 10; students may write the final copy in blue/black ink, or they may type the paper.  Some have chosen to work in groups and some on their own.  Interims should come home today and are due back signed next Wed., 2/10.

Feb. 6: Signed interims and the persuasive paper are due Wed., 2/10.

Feb. 8:  Signed interims, the persuasive paper, and "Weirdo" book one vocab. are all due Wed., 2/10.  We are reading "The Weirdo" in class and are on p. 17.

Feb. 9:  Signed interims, the persuasive paper, and "Weirdo" book 1 vocab. are due tomorrow.
