Parent Update Feb 2: I have been trying to send a mass distribution parent email for several days, but am having technical problems. So, I am including the message here hoping many of you will recieve it.
Parents,
The school year is flying by! Third quarter started Jan 27. Report cards were sent home on Friday. Please review your childs report card with them and sign and return the envelope so we know that you did receive the report card. If you would like to schedule a conference with team teachers, please contact Mr. Anderson at rlanderson@wcpss.net.
While we have many students who are doing well in school, there are also many students who are struggling and would benefit from more parental support. Most 8th graders still need parental involvement with homework and organization. Use our schoolnotes.com sites to keep up with assignments and have your student spend a few minutes organizing his/her notebook each weekend. Feel free to email each of us every week or so and request an update on the status of your childs work. Good communication between parents and teachers usually improves student performance. If you would like some information on how to help your child succeed in school, email me and I will send home information with your child.
I am still planning a team field trip for April 28. We will take a boat from Carolina Beach to Masonboro Island where students will have a chance to go crabbing and clamming as well as walk on the beach and explore a salt marsh. I do not know the exact cost yet, but expect it to be approximately $55 per student. It is a wonderful learning experience and hope that many students will decide to participate. Given today's economy, I am sure I will need donations to help cover the cost of the trip for students who can not afford to pay.
I will provide more details about the trip in March.
Sincerely,
Ms. Powell
