Monday August 25, Students will read and take home the following papers:  Physical Education letter to parents, Physical Education Student Health information sheet, Physical Education and Health Expectations sheet.
Homework: students need to read Leesville Student Handbook, students need to return the Physical Education student Health Information sheet SIGNED by their parent(s) and the student.  Student will not be able to participate until this document is returned.

Physical Education Expectations

20 points per day
- Dressing Out (Shoes w/ socks, shirt, shorts; sweat pants, sweat shirts)
- Stretching (includes crunches, push-ups, jumping jacks, agility drills) no talking
- Participation (Daily class activities)
Examples - not have the required item will result in loss of the following points:
- no shoes –15 points
- wrong / no shirt –5 points
- wrong / no shorts –5 points
- not doing stretching, push-ups, crunches –10 points
- not participating –10 to –15 points
- students are also required to change clothes at the end of the class
A student can only lose a maximum of –20 points per day.

Students need to bring a note from a parent(s) or a doctor to be excused from Physical Education class.  Parents may send an email in place of a note.

Health Expectations

20 points per day
- Be on time
- Be prepared, bring to class the following items every day:  notebook &/or paper, pencil &/or pen, Student handbook.  There will be periodical notebook, paper, pencil checks.  –5 to –10 points per day
- Participation:  Listening in class, reading orally and silently in class, completing in class activities, quizzes, tests, and projects.  –5 to –20 points per day
Projects and some tests will have a separate point total other than the daily point total.

Tuesday August 26,
Students will return Student Health Information Sheet.
We will review Mr. B's Class Rules for Health & Physical Education.
Students will read their Leesville Student Handbook.
Students will know WCPSS guidelines and expectations.

Mr. B’s Classroom Rules of the Land

FOLLOW DIRECTIONS AND STAY ON TASK

1.  Have Permission before:
- Talking out, asking questions in class
- Leaving your seat
- Leaving the class area
- Going to the rest room
- Getting water

2.  Be Respectful of yourself and others.

3.  Be Prompt and be Prepared for class.

4.  Face forward, keeping your legs and feet in front of you under your desk.
- Keep your desk and chair legs on the floor

5.  No food or beverages in class without permission.  This includes GUM &/or candy.  To stay hydrated you will be allowed to bring water &/or other beverages for some P.E. class activities – GET PERMISSION FIRST.

Consequences

Not following directions will result in one or more of the following:

Verbal warning / prompt
Apology from student
Time-out from the class, 5 minutes or possibly till the end of class.
200 word essay on a Charater Trait
400 word essay on a Charater Trait or related written assignment, phone call to parent(s)
Written discipline notice to assistant principal with phone call to parent

Week of September 2 and September 8 - Physical Education
Begin properly dressing out for P.E.
Stretching, crunches, push-ups, jumping jacks
Agility drills and running relays.
Circuit training to prepare for Presidential / National Physical Fitness Testing.
Sit-ups and Pull-up testing.

Week of September 15 and September 22 - Health
Chapter 1 - Charater Traits, Health and Our Wellness
Open House on Tuesday September 16 at 6:00pm
Interim Progress Reports will be sent home September 26.  Students need to return theirs by October 3 to earn 20 points.

Week of September 29 and October 6 - Physical Education
Circuit training to prepare for Physical Fitness Testing.  Shuttle run, sit and reach, and mile run.
Sixth Grade will also complete the long jump, 100 yard & 400 yard dashes.

Week of October 13 and October 20 - Health
Chapter 2 - Making Healthy Decisions

Week of October 27 and November 3 - Physical Education
Flag Football and Soccer drills and games
Happy Halloween:)!!

Week of November 10 and November 17 - Health
Physical Fitness and Self Esteem.

Week of November 24 and December 1 - Physical Education
Basketball and Volleyball drills and games.
Outdoor / Indoor Soccer games.

Sixth Grade - Family and Friends
Seventh Grade - Encouraging Healthy Relationships
Eighth Grade - Building Responsible Relationships

Week of December 15 - Basketball and Volleyball tournaments in each of the P.E. clases.

How about some "white stuff" - Think Snow!  What is winter, with out just a little bit of snow!

Week of March 2 and March 9 - Physical Education Badminton, Volleyball or Basketball.

Week of March 16 and March 23 - Health
Heart and Circulatory Systems - Learn about your Heart and your blood.

Week of March 30 - Physical Education
Badminton, Volleyball or Basketball. Outside, soccer or hockey.Enjoy your Spring Break!

Week of April 14 and April 20 - Health
Circulatory and Respiratory Systems.

Week of April 27 and May 4  - Physical Education - Indoor soccer, power ball or Soft ball drills or hockey outside

Week of May 11 and May 18 - Health
Digestion and Excretory Systems.  

Week of May 26 - Softball games, wiffleball and Out door Hockey

Week of June 1 - Nutrition and First Aide, Nutrition Project
