Hello,
Wednesday through Friday next week I will be holding the mid-quarter student -teacher  art critiques in class. I will meet with each student.  We will look over their sketch pads for daily sketches, line designs, and look at the quality of their assignments. We will discuss their progress at this point and each student will write their personal goal for the remainder of the quarter. I will write comments on their conference form for you and your child to go over. There will be no grade just a statement of progress at this point. Please refer to the syllabus that each child has in their binder for art.
Thank you,
Susan Wasilewski

In Drawing we are finishing our study of Matisse. We have explored line, color, and pattern in his still life works. We will have our drawings on display at the Open House Tuesday evening. They are so talented. Next week we will move into our unit on perspective drawing.

We will close the school year at our annual Character Education Gala when much of our work will be displayed.  An interdisciplinary approach will be used in this class.  A distinct feeling of working in a design studio will be created.  A team approach will be utilized to challenge students to set high standards for quality work and maximum creativity.

The student will have prepared a newspaper article critiquing an art exhibit after visiting a museum or gallery, created two line designs, and prepared two drawings weekly in the sketchpad.   A 'C' grade reflects respectful learning behaviors as well as quality classwork.  Any performance less than above will result in a lower grade for the course.  In addition, ALL students must work hard daily in class on art assignments, turning work in on time with the goal of QUALITY in mind.  When a student finishes an assignment or project in class, there are always independent activities available.  THERE IS NO FREE TIME IN ART!
