ANNOUNCEMENTS

School fees can be paid at anytime.  The fee is $10.  The money collected for school fees allows your child's teachers to receive additional materials to be used toward instruction, projects and more!  Please support G.R. Whitfield by paying student fees as soon as possible.  All 7th grade fees should be paid to Mrs. Dwyer.  Eighth grade students should give school fees to their homeroom teacher.

During the month of September, Pitt County Schools will be having a county-wide book fair at Barnes and Nobles bookstore.  When you make purchases and Barnes and Noble in September, a portion of the proceeds will go to the school system.  There will be special nights for specific schools.  Check back to this website to find out the date of G.R. Whitfield's night.

CURRICULUM

During the first nine weeks, students will be working on studying and analyzing the fiction genre.  Our goal will be to understand the elements of fiction, the different types of fiction, and analyze the impact the genre-specific characteristics have on this type of literature.

This week, I will be assisting students in reviewing the various types of fiction literature.  In addition, I will introduce a year-long reading project to students.  Please look for information to come about this project in coming weeks.
