Each class has been split into small groups or “tribes”. Each tribe has been given a name, a mascot, and elected a team leader. In their tribes, they will compete in mini-challenges, explore mathematical principles, and ultimately work together to achieve success in math class. Students receive Survivor points for completing homework, showing exceptional behavior, mini-challenges, good grades, and perfect attendance. Students can lose points for incomplete assignments, poor behavior, tardies, etc. Tribes must have positive points to play the game.
Here are the rules:
1) Each player will be placed into one of five tribes predetermined by the teacher.
2) Switching tribes is not allowed. Once you are placed in a tribe, you have to stay there and make the best of it.
3) An individual may be removed from the tribe if they have become disruptive to the rest of the tribe.
4) The tribes will compete in challenges and mini-challenges throughout the course of the game where they can earn points.
5) A team leader will be voted on by the tribe and will be responsible for keeping track of the tribe’s score using a check register.
6) There are debits and credits in the game. Different things take away or add points to the tribes total. These are listed below.
7) There are individual prizes for tribes whom get an A average on tests. Each team member earns an additional 5 points on their test when this happens.
8) Individual players who have a total score of 99.5% or higher going into the final are the Survivor Math winners and will receive a special prize... Immunity from the final challenge!
9) PLAY FAIR! Do not tell another team false info so they bomb their challenge! This will be considered cheating and will result in points taken away.
10) Tribes are encouraged to interact and help each other… The main goal of the game is for EVERYONE to excel on the challenges! Then everyone is a winner!
11) Each team starts out with 50 points. If a team ever has negative points, they will no longer be able to participate in Survivor.
12) The RULES and POINTS may change at any time!
Homework: To get homework points you must complete ALL problems and you MUST have work!!!
Team Leaders: Responsible for keeping up with your teams points and checking another team’s homework.
Mini Challenges: There will be several mini challenges throughout the year. These may consist of a game, competition, quiz, etc. The winning tribe for these mini challenges will receive points for your team. Rules for mini challenges may vary and will be discussed at the time of the mini challenge.
CHEATING: Cheating on homework, class work, quizzes, tests, etc. will result in MAJOR point deductions.

-2 per member talking out of turn
-1 per item of trash left on, in, or under desk
-2 per member with out all homework
-5 per member tardy
-5 per member unprepared
-5 per member leaving the room at anytime other than class breaks or being called out by office, etc.
-10 per member w/ referral
-1 per chair left out
-2 per member out of seat without permission
-5 per member off task: sleeping, drawing, etc.
-5 per calculator dropped on the floor
Credits
+10 when all members complete ALL homework
+15 when all members make A on test or quiz
+5 when member is caught being exceptional in some way
+10 for exceptional behavior by entire group
+10 for highest test/quiz AVERAGE
+5 for second highest test/quiz AVERAGE
+3 for third highest test/quiz AVERAGE
+20 will an members have PERFECT attendance w/o any tardies per week
MINI Challenges- +15 1st place, +7 2nd place, +5 3rd place, +3 4th place, +1 5th place
+2 per item donated to the class: tissues, paper towels, pencils, paper, etc.
+++Points will be given for various activities throughout the semester!!!!
