I am very excited to inform you of our Reading Lab that has opened this year. Third and Fourth Grade students have the opportunity to come to the lab every day for a 35 minute differentiated reading lesson.
Some of the books we have read so far are:
A-Z Mysteries - "The Empty Envelope"
"Invisible Island"
"Ghostville Elementary"
"Freckle Juice"
"Chocolate Fever"
Magic Tree House - "Ghost Town at Sundown"
"The Mystery of Ben Franklin's Ghost"
"A Christmas Carol"
"If You Lived in the Time of Squanto"
"Boxcar Children"
We have seen tremendous progress in most of our students evidenced by their improved DRA scores, especially in the area of comprehension, and their Spelling Inventories.
I hope that the students will keep up the good work when we return from the Christmas break. At that time, we will begin reading more nonfiction and targeting skills that will prepare us for the EOGs.
I wish for each of you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
