Your child has been assigned a written research report on his/her favorite animal. Today we discussed what makes a great research report. Students should follow these guidelines as they work on their project:
•Choose an animal that interests them.
•Find enough interesting facts about the topic.
•Use a variety of sources including books, magazines, web sites, etc.
•Share the facts in your own words. DON’T COPY!
•Organize your facts in paragraphs with clear topic sentences.
•Summarize your findings in the conclusion.
•Include a list of resources that you used.
**Please feel free to help your child find resources that will help him/her write the research report. The rough draft for the report is due this Friday, February 27th. The FINAL PUBLICATION and presentation will be due the following Friday, March 6th. The majority of the written work will be done in class. However, your child may create a diorama, a model or gather pictures from home to support the written portion of the project.
This assignment will count as 50% of the science grade for this grading period. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me.
