I hope to use "schoolnotes" this year to provide an overview and schedule of the content we are covering in my North Carolina History classes. This schedule, however will be approximate due to the nature of the class.
I am currently teaching 45 minute classes. Social Studies lends itself to class discussion and this, along with necessary scheduled and unscheduled interruptions, and enrichment activities, will prevent me from providing a day-by-day schedule of work. However, each student is instructed to keep a folder with homework assignments on a daily basis. Homework is posted on the assignment board and students have time to copy assignments daily. Please refer to your child's planner for daily assignments. (more information is provided below regarding homework, etc.)
Proposed schedule:
Currently we are working on Chapter 3, "Cultures Meet", which describes the settlement of English colonies along the Atlantic coast of America. Homework reading questions will be assigned most nights until we finish the chapter.
Starting Friday, November 6, students will respond to reading questions from previously issued assignments covering events from the Colonial period of settlement (Pages 88 through 93). We may test on these readings on Wednesday, Nov. 11. After which we will continue to cover Pages 94 through 102 which will finish the chapter. A quiz or test will be given on these pages when we finish which will probably be early the following week.
Please see below for other important general information.
