Seniors will be taking the big senior picture on Monday, November 9th. If you want to order a copy of the picture you must pay at the time the picture is taken. Order forms are in the front office. Cost is $12.00.

There will be a Science Olympiad building practice on Sat. from 9:30am until 2:00pm in room 406.

Students who are members of SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) should check their email this weekend for important information!

Attention Freshmen: If you were a member of Jr. Beta Club in 8th grade and did not receive a Beta Club invitation from your 1st period teacher on Thursday, please see Ms. Boleyn in room 604 if you are interested in joining the Beta Club.

There will be a Driver Education class during Christmas break at A G Cox starting Dec. 22. Call the NC Driving School @ 321-6700 to register.

Attention Seniors!!! The Herff Jones representative will be here on Monday, November 16th during all Lunches in the Cafeteria to take your graduation announcement and cap & gown orders.

Attention Key Club members – there will be a Key Club meeting in Mrs. James’ room Friday after school to make posters for the Holly Ball. Please bring markers or any materials you may need.

Attention to all SC Students – For the 3rd year, the Key Club is sponsoring the Annual Holly Ball on Dec. 12th. This year the dance will be held at The Zone @ the Sara Law Softball Complex.  In order to attend the Holly ball you must be passing all classes and not have an out-of-school suspension. Clubs will nominate a Snow Prince and Snow Princess for the dance. Mark your calendars for Dec. 12th and more details will follow soon.

DECA members attending District Conference, money is due to Ms. Smith no later than Tuesday, November 10th

French National Honor Society members who have not paid their membership fees are reminded to do so ASAP to Ms. Udresco in room 402.

Attention HOSA members who attended District Competitive Events – Cold Stone Ice Cream Pie fundraiser forms are in. Please see Mrs. Rouse or Albrecht ASAP for Thanksgiving sales.

ATTENTION ALL HEALTH SCIENCES ACADEMY STUDENTS:
There will be an SAT workshop for all Health Sciences Academy students on Saturday, November 14 from 8 to 3:30 at the Monroe Center (AHEC).    Health Sciences Academy students need to register for the workshop no later than November 6 and send or bring their $10 registration fee to the Health Sciences Academy office.  Registration includes their lunch, their book, and instruction.  If you have questions, please contact the Academy office at 830-4284.  

MSA is hosting a Coat Drive for families of the Homeless Shelter. Please bring coats of all sizes that are too small, or that you don’t wear anymore to student services by Nov. 19th. See Mrs. Congleton-Rahman with any questions.

Band Fruit Sale – Order Forms in front office – Last day to turn in order and money in Monday, November 16th – Parents may pick-up fruit orders after school (in the band room) on Thursday, December 3rd.  Any questions, please call April Lundberg @ 355-4379

Reminder to Seniors: senior Ads for the yearbook are being taken now thru Nov. 23rd. Make a lasting memory by purchasing an ad! See Ms. Klaich in room 303 for an order form.

Yearbook: Forms for ordering the yearbook will be in your home mailboxes beginning Oct. 26th. Please keep a look out for a letter from Smart Pay. If, you don’t get a letter, see Mrs. Klaich in room 303 or the front office.  OR – go to www.smart-pay.com   Once you find the school’s name on the website, the instructions for ordering will take you thru the process. Smart Pay accepts all major credit and debit cards.  Deadline for ordering books is January 15, 2010.   *There will not be many extra yearbooks ordered this year and the price for the book will increase once they arrive in May, so NOW is the best time to make this purchase.

-An Admissions representative from Meredith College will be here on November 12th between 2 and 3pm. Please see Miss Hodges if you are applying to Meredith College this year.
-The NC National Teenager Scholarship Organization is now accepting applications for the 2010 NC National Teenager Pageant to be held March 27, 2010 in Charlotte, NC.  Go to www.ncscnationalteen.com for more information. Deadline is Feb. 27th
-If you are applying to Wake Forest University, check out their website for scholarships. The 1st deadline is Dec. 1st.
-Coastal Carolina University will hold its Carolina Comes first day on Friday, Nov. 13th. Contact Coastal Carolina’s Office of Admissions @ 843-349-2027 to register.
-Seniors – Successfully complete the Financial Literacy 101 module on www.CFNC.org and you could win 1 of 2 $500 scholarships to be given this summer.
-Campbell University will have Fall Visitation Days on the following dates: Sat., Oct. 24th and Sat., Nov. 11th. Visit www.campbell.edu Visit the Campbell financial aid office’s website for scholarship information.
-NC Central will have its Open house on Sat., Nov. 21st. Register online @ www.nccu.edu or call 1.877.667.7533
-Delaware College of Art and design will have its Preview Day on November 8th from 9 am until 4 pm. www.dcadevents.com or call 302.622.8000
-The National Commission for Cooperative Education, on behalf of 8 NCCE Partner Colleges and Universities will award 170 merit co-op scholarships of $6,000 each.  NCCE website,  www.co-op.edu. Early submissions are encouraged. Deadline is Feb. 15, 2010
-Prudential Spirit of Community Award – You could win $1000 and a trip to Washington, DC in May. For more information go to http//spirit.prudential.com or www.principals.org/prudential  Access keyword is “spirit”.
-Levine Scholarship program at UNC-Charlotte – www.levinescholars.uncc.edu. Forms must be downloaded before Nov. 16th. Deadline is Dec. 1st.

**Coaches and Fall Athletes will be able to pick up their tickets for the Fall Banquet on November 16, 2009 at lunch next Tuesday, November 10, 2009 thru Friday, November 13, 2009.  If you do not pick up your ticket, you will have to pay $10.00 at the door.  Also, there will be a Falcon Club representative in the cafeteria on the same days selling tickets for family members.  The cost of these tickets is $8.00. Tickets are limited so you need to purchase them as soon as possible.  ALL who plan to attend must have a ticket, and ALL tickets at the door will be $10.00.

***The Falcon Club is selling "Black-Out" T-shirts on Thursday and Friday, November 5th and 6th, in the cafeteria during all lunch periods.  Mr. Coleman is allowing the students to wear these T-shirts on Friday, November 6th in support of the last home football game against Conley.  Students will also get to wear these T-shirts again on designated days throughout the remainder of the school year.    


Orders for Letter Jackets will be taken November 10th in the cafeteria. A $50.00 deposit is required.

Reminder – Friday is Senior Night! Come out to see the “play off” bound Falcons in their last regular season home game against DH Conley @ 7 PM.

It is not too late to come out for Wrestling. Stop by and see Coach Marshall, room 615.

After School Make-up sessions begin November 10th. Each session removes one class absence. Students may not attend make-up sessions unless they have 8 or more absences per class period. Each session begins at 3:40 pm and ends at 6:40 pm. Students will NOT be admitted late to any session!
