 Important Dates

- PLEASE LOOK AT HOME FOR 100BC BOOKS! WE ARE MISSING 29 BOOKS.

- The PASS field test is on Tuesday May 19th

- June 2nd and 3rd are half days (dismissal at 12:00)

- June 2nd is Awards day at 8:15

- June 3rd is a Fun Day outside



End of Year Lesson Plans

May 18 -  May 22

 

Mon. May 18

Procedures:

1.       Students will identify and categorize adjectives with “Can I Play” handout.

2.       Read Maniac Magee chapters 5-9 and complete comic strip of Frog Ball Game in chapter 7.

3.       Introduce the “World Traveler through U.S. History” project and have students decorate the front page.  Brainstorm ideas for reconstruction and have students complete their reconstruction page.

4.       100 BC:  genres

Homework: read 2 lines

 

Tues. May 19

Procedures:

1.       Students will determine the meanings of commonly used idioms.

2.       Read Maniac Magee chapters 10-12 and read “Thank You Ma’am” and compare and contrast.

3.       Continue the World Traveler project by brainstorming ideas for Westward Expansion and have students complete that page.

4.       100 BC: elements of nonfiction

Homework: read 2 lines

 

Wed. May 20

Procedures:

1.       Students will identify and write the different types of sentences

2.       Read Maniac Magee chapters 13-17 and create their own candy bar.

3.       Continue the World Traveler project by brainstorming ideas for Industrialization & Immigration and have students complete that page.

4.       100 BC:  make connections

Homework: read 2 lines

 

Thurs. May 21

Procedures:

1.       Students will review comma usage by completing “Commas with a Poirpose”

2.       Read Maniac Magee chapters 18-21 and complete fact and opinion sheet.

3.       Continue the World Traveler project by brainstorming ideas for World War I and have students complete that page.

4.       100 BC: main idea

Homework: read 2 lines

 

Fri. May 22

Procedures:

1.       Students will complete “Domino Duos” to review cause and effect.

2.       Read Maniac Magee chapters 22-26 and complete the jargon handout.

3.       Continue the World Traveler project by brainstorming ideas for Roaring Twenties and have students complete that page.

4.       100 BC: visualizing

Mon. May 25

Memorial Day – NO SCHOOL

 

Tues. May 26

Procedures:

1.       Students will complete “Presidential Terminology” to acquire new vocabulary.

2.       Read Maniac Magee chapters 27-30 and complete eulogy for character that died.

3.       Continue the World Traveler project by brainstorming ideas for Great Depression & Dust Bowl and have students complete that page.

4.       100 BC: elements of nonfiction

Homework: read 2 lines

 

 

Wed. May 27

Procedures:

1.       Students will complete “Gobble Squabble” to review prefixes and suffixes.

2.       Read Maniac Magee chapters 31-34 and students can act out their favorite scene in groups.

3.       Continue the World Traveler project by brainstorming ideas for World War II and have students complete that page.

4.       100 BC:  make connections

Homework: read 2 lines

 

Thurs. May 28

Procedures:

1.       Students will complete “Back to School Buffoonery” to review parts of speech.

2.       Read Maniac Magee chapters 35-38 and complete Maniac’s Map of Two Mills.

3.       Continue the World Traveler project by brainstorming ideas for Cold War and have students complete that page.

4.       100 BC: main idea

Homework: read 2 lines

 

Fri. May 29

Procedures:

1.       Students will decorate an envelope and put their name on it.  Everyone will write a nice note to each student in the class to put in everyone else’s envelopes.

2.       Read Maniac Magee chapters 39-42 and complete “Lost Year” handout.

3.       Continue the World Traveler project by brainstorming ideas for Civil Rights and have students complete that page.

4.       100 BC: visualizing

Homework: read 2 lines

 

Mon. June 1

Procedures:

1.       Students will finish writing their nice notes to all the other students and deliver them.

2.       Read Maniac Magee chapters 43-46 and watch united streaming cartoon version of the novel.

3.       Continue the World Traveler project by brainstorming ideas for 1980s to Present Day and have students complete that page.

4.       100 BC:  genres
