We are into September and we are looking at some exciting new music for the orchestra this year. We are working on music for the Christmas Chapel on December 10th. We are playing one of my arrangements of traditional Christmas songs as well as the Mannheim Stemroller version of Hark The Herald Angels.

We have Carmina Burana, Bugler's Holiday, Finlandia, and Pirates of the Carribean at World's End so far for the Spring Concert in April. We also have some new pep band music to play at some of the home games.

Grading Criteria for Orchestra:
HS students receive a numerical grade.
JH/MS students get pass/fail
Performance: 40%
Theory: 10%
Sight Reading 10%
Practice time: 20%
Class Participation-bringing instrument, etc. 20%
Performances are a required attendance for a passing grade. The scheduled performances are the Christmas Chapel Dec 10th at 10:30? and the Spring Concert which will be May 1st at 2PM and 7PM with required dress rehearsal on Thursday April 30th at 7PM. There may be one other performance yet to be determined sometime early Spring. The pep band at the games is optional but attendance is strongly recommended as it gives the student more opportunities to perform and improve their playing skills.
We are scheduling morning rehearsals for anyone interested in the orchestra and can't get a regular schedule. It will be Monday, Wed. & Fri. at 7:30AM.
Adults wishing to play may come then as well as the regular class times.
I will post the class/rehearsal schedules here as soon as possible.

Points are given for above average performance.
3rd and 4th grade will be graded on Jump-Start typing scores and projects.
Awards will be given at the end of the year for the
three best typing speeds in each grade.

S+ 8-9 wpm 9-10
