Please allow your students to practice their cooking skills at home.  Cleaning the kitchen was a large part of the cooking labs, so please let them practice cleaning too. Remember we do not use knives in the cooking lab so you might want to supervise. I am including some of the recipes we use below.

Buttermilk Pancakes
1 egg
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon sugar
1 cup buttermilk
2 tablespoons vegetable oil

Beat egg with wire whisk.  Stir in buttermilk and oil.
Sift together flour, baking powder, soda, salt, and sugar.
Add flour mixture to milk and egg mixture.  Stir until smooth.
Pour about ¼ cup of batter onto a hot electric skillet (300 degrees) or griddle.

Strawberry Banana Smoothie
½ banana
½ bag frozen strawberries (about 2 cups)
1 vanilla yogurt (8 ounces)
¾ cup milk
1 tablespoon sugar (or sugar substitute)
Blend in blender until smooth

Frosty Orange
2 cups vanilla or orange ice cream (more if you like)
2 cups orange juice
1/2 cup milk
