5. Remember to review your notes every night for at least 10 minutes:) Make Flash Cards! Study the hows and whys events, people, and ideas became important.

Study Tips:
1. Create flash cards on important people, events, concepts and their/its impact on the region/history
2. Chunk the information (group the information by ideas/themes: feudalism, knighthood, Crusades...) & study in small doses (10-15 minutes at a time:)
3. Have a study buddy; teach and quiz each other the material
4. Divide up homework assignments by completing one section per night
5. Have a designated time to study each night (7-8pm social studies, 8-9pm math, 9-10pm science)
6. Proofread your work and have a friend double check:)

Writing Tips:
1. explain historical background causing the event
using only 3rd person (no "I think", "I believe", "in our society"...);
2. avoid conjunction starters and preposition endings (prepositional phrase always follows a preposition/conjunctions join ideas);
3. never use also, very, got, thing, very, a lot, in conclusion;
4. write out contractions;
5. vary words by using a thesaurus;
6. choose verbs wisely (avoid linking verbs b/c they weaken your writing);
7. and utilize specific factual information (provide names and events).
