Health and Physical Education Connections: Students in the 8th grade need to learn more skills about each sport and gain more knowledge of the equipment, rules and regulation of each sport. The student will also learn lifetime skills to assist him or her in achieving and staying in the best health and physical conditioning.
In a semester, we will discuss and learn equipment, rules and regulation related to:
1. Health Topics and Concerns (3-9wks)
2. Aerobic and Personal Fitness
3. Soccer
4. Badminton
5. Softball
6. Archery
7. Basketball(3-on-3 and 5-on-5)
8. Table Tennis
9. Weight Training
Students at this age are naturally curious and energetic. Students are expected to observe all school and class rules. Therefore a firm discipline policy is very helpful to ensure gym success for all students. The rules are clearly covered the first day. Rules that are broken are dealt with fairness and understanding. However, continually breaking rules or sever problems will be handled with equal measures of punishment. Students will follow four simple rules:
1. Show good sportsmanship towards Coach and Classmates.
2. Listen carefully and follow directions.
3. Participate ¾ of time and then walk around track. (P.E. class only)
4. Respect yourself and others.
5. Wear tennis shoes(P.E. class only)
Extra Exercises will be give to those who break the rules!
Students with an uncontrollable excuse (sickness, in school activity, etc…) will be given adequate time to complete missed work. Other students are allowed two school days after an assignment is due to turn in work late (except for the last week of the nine-week period) without penalty. However, each day after the second day the penalty is one letter grade per day late.
