My name is Andrea Riley, I am a graduate student at Columbus State University and I have been assigned here at Midland to complete my Student Teaching under Coach Brown.
The classes are finishing up our unit on flag football. We concentrated on the cues needed for catching and throwing a football as well as playing different positions such as the quaterback (QB), running back (RB) and wide receiver (WR).
The next unit will be speedball. Speedball is a combination of soccer, football and basketball. It's very similar to ultimate frisbee, except played with a soccer ball. The students will work on passing the soccer ball with their feet, performing kick-ups, throw-ins, and offense and defense. Speedball is a non-contact sport but a fairly fast paced game.
If there is enough time, the last unit we will work on is team building. Team building is fun because it lets students know PE isn't just about playing sports all the time. There are several games that we will do to help increase students communication and team building skills with each other.
Parents you're children have been a pleasure to work with and students please continue the good work and positive attitudes!
Coach Riley
