GEORGIA STUDIES SYLLABUS
Team 8 Blue – Mrs. Gloria Jones

Using maps, the GA Studies textbook and supplemental materials, our goal is to complete the GPS Standards before the CRCT in April.  The remainder of the year will be spent doing enrichment activities and projects that are related to what we’ve learned throughout the year.
    * Students need a Do Now notebook, composition book or folder.  It may be left in my room if the student desires.  Do Now exercises will be CRCT practice questions which the student will copy and answer each day.  The notebook will be graded each 9 weeks.  At the end of March the notebook should be taken home to review for the CRCT in April.
    *  Parents and students should check the website: https://www.georgiastandards.org .  Click on the tab that takes you to the Georgia Standards page.  Type in Georgia Studies in the Advanced Search box.  Choose 6-8 and Social Studies.  You will find the complete list of GA Studies Standards for 8th grade.
    *  Students will have many opportunities to work with a partner or in a group during the year to help them better understand the material.
    *  Grades will be based on:
    DO NOW notebook completion
    Checkmark/Class Participation Grade (10 checkmarks = 100 points)
    Chapter Tests
    Projects
Homework assignments 1-2 times per week.
EACH ITEM = 20% OF THE OVERALL GRADE
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
PLEASE SIGN AND RETURN FOR 1 CHECKMARK (10 POINTS)
