August 25, 2010  For the past few weeks you have been learning about how important language is.  You have also learned that grammar is a description of the way a language works.  Specifically, grammar refers to the structure of language--the words, phrases, and clauses that are the building blocks of sentences.  With this in mind, you have identified complete sentences, sentence fragments, and run-on sentences.  You have looked at examples of corrected fragments and run-ons, and you have identified subjects and predicates (verbs) in sentences.  FRIDAY you will have a test on all of the above. Review, review, and review your notes and examples in your grammar book.
Friday's homework:  Learn ALL of the prefix definitions.  Show your parents the results of your STAR Reading test and read an AR book on your tested grade level ZPD.

Monday, August 30 - September 3, 2010
