Listed below will be a brief overview by grade level.
All three grade levels will be responsible for a technology notebook which will be grade at the end of the 9 weeks. All students will be receiving a working grade which is based on two points a day for being a good student and following the rules.
6th Grade
6th grade classes will last 9weeks then they will rotate to the next available connections class.
We will begin with an introduction to technology followed by review of measuring skills and measuring tool identification. We will then do a presentation on an invention and inventor. From that point we will cover flight, its history, the fundamentals, its forces, principles, and scientific laws. When we finish with this we will divide into groups, and we will build a rocket. Students will gather information on launch day using altitude finders, GPS, and wind speed indicators.
7th Grade
7th grade classes will last one semester.
We will learn about construction, engineering, and include building projects from various materials which we will test to the point of failure and analyze the cause. Students will also choose a partner and will select three modules to participate in.
8th Grade
8th grade classes will last one semester.
We will learn about transportation, its history, different modes of transportation, and the future of transportation. We will build a C02 powered car in which the student will design and build. When finished we will have a drag race which will determine class championships and school wide championships. The 8th graders will also choose a partner and will select three modules to participate in.
