This week is MAP testing. We give the MAP test three times a year. Once in September, in January, and then in March. The MAP test is a tool that we use in our school to see how the students are doing and plan for instruction according to our state standards. It also gives us a good idea about how the students are going to do on the CRCT test in the spring. We will send home your child's scores and sample questions a few weeks after we take the test so you will know where your child stands too.
Speaking of sample questions, the CRCT On-Line information will be going home this Friday, September 19. Please go to the CRCT On-Line site with your child and try some of the tests. The questions are created by the same people who write the CRCT so they are close to what your child will see on the test in the spring. That address is: https://georgiaoas.org/servlet/a2l. It will tell you that the page is not authentic or certified, but click on continue and the introductory page will come up. Remember......Practice, practice, practice!!!
You can now order your Scholastic books on-line!! Your order with Scholastic Books helps our classroom earn books and materials to enhance your child's learning. Just go to the Scholastic link: www.scholastic.com/parentordering
Our class user name is: dcewildcats
Our password is: doublechurches
You can place your order and pay electronically all in one place!! This month's orders are due on August 29th. Thank you for all your support!!
The names on the monthly calendar indicate the leader for the day. That child is encouraged to bring a sharing item (one that fits into their bookbag) to talk about and a favorite snack to share with the class (we have 16 children as of today).
We will be learning about Tall Tales and Magnets in the coming weeks. We will be expecting our Flat Stanley’s in the mail any day now. We can't wait to see where they have been!! The most exciting part is that we will be mapping the places he has been on our map we are creating in the hallway. Just think of all the places we will hear from....
Have a great weekend and we hope to see a lot of you in the future!!
