Unit 2 Data Analysis and Probability
KEY STANDARDS:
M8D2. Students will determine the number of outcomes related to a given event.
a. Use tree diagrams to find the number of outcomes.
b. Apply the addition and multiplication principles of counting.
M8D3. Students will use the basic laws of probability.
a. Find the probability of simple independent events.
b. Find the probability of compound independent events.

Students will:
•use tree diagrams, addition, and multiplication to determine the number of outcomes;
•list the set of all possible outcomes (i.e., the sample space) for an event;
•determine probabilities of simple events and compound independent events; and
•apply basic probability rules to solve problems.

MONDAY September 8, 2008
Lesson:Find the probabilities of dependent and independent events.
Hw:Problems #1-13 on page 548.

TUESDAY September 9, 2008
Lesson:Find the probabilities of unions and intersections of two events.
Hw:"Probability of Compound Events"

WEDNESDAY September 10, 2008
Lesson:Use probability to make decisions and predictions.
HW:Problems #1-13 on p. 552.

THURSDAY September 11, 2008
Lesson:Find the odds in favor of an event and the odds against an event.
HW:Problems #1-18 on p. 556.
