Welcome to Mrs. Jordan-Faison's Pre-K!
Mrs. Jordan-Faison is a graduate of Columbus State University. She has been teaching Pre-Kindergarten at Benning Hills for a year and a half before moving to Ridgon Road. She has had experience in child care for many years: After School program at Midland Elementary, Pre-K Paraprofessional, substitute teacher in all grade levels (pre-kindergarten through 5th),teacher at Vacation Bible School, and many hours of field experience in all grade levels (pre-Kindergarten through 5th). Mrs. Jordan loves ladybugs and bright colors so the classroom will be filled with many. She is a proud mommy to her dogs, Hudson and Skeeter. She resides in Phenix City with her brand new husband, Brandon, as of July 19th!

Information of the Instructional Program and Daily Schedule
At Rigdon Road Elementary, we will be using the High/Scope curriculum. The High/Scope curriculum focuses on the child learning responsibilities through daily routines, learning activities, and play.
We will follow a daily schedule. Although we have changed the schedule around at the beginning of the year frequently, you will receive a final copy. If for some reason it is changed to meet the needs of the students, we will send a copy home.
During our day, we do individual table activities (leggos, play dough, etc). We also do large group, small group, and circle time activities. During circle time, we look at our helpers of the day, weather, calendar, etc. When we have large group time, we focus on a theme/topic with music, finger plays, movement, graphic organizer charts, etc¡K When we are in our small group, the teachers each have 5 students. We will introduce a skill to the students, such as order from largest to smallest, writing, etc
Here in Pre-K, we do a lot of learning through play, talk, and exploring. We have our Plan/Do/Recall time each day which lasts about an hour. The students plan and decide what center they will work in, then do that activity in the center, and recall or discuss what they did. We love sharing what we do during the day.

Our Daily Schedule:
8:00-8:30	Arrival Breakfast
8:30-8:45 Greeting/Morning Activities

Items for class (blanket, extra clothes, $ labeled)
The only thing you needed to purchase this year was a blanket. They should have a mat throughout the entire school year. Every child must have something to cover up with during nap time. It needs to be small, but able to cover them. A towel works great. The covering blanket MUST be labeled with your child¡¦s name. Please, no large blankets!!
Every child MUST have a change of clothes in the book bag at all times in case of any accidents we may have. If there is no change of clothes, you will be called from work or home. Even if your child is potty trained, accidents happen!! Trust me!

B.E.A.R. Books
The B.E.A.R. Books represent Bring Everything And Read. This is a way for the students to learn responsibility and organizational skills. Every communication between us all will be in this BEAR Book! This is their "take home¨ folder. The BEAR book will go home as often as it is needed to.
Each child will receive a folder that will have the left pocket titled "Keep At Home"-which means these are papers I am sending home and you are to take those papers out to keep at home. The right pocket will be titled "Return to School"- which means you will need to look over them and do accordingly and put them back in the folder.

If you need to send anything to me: this is where you will place any money for lunch, Book Club, pictures, etc¡K Please let us know what the money is for! Before sticking the $$money$$ in the pocket, make sure you do the following:
„«	Place the money in an envelope
„«	Put your child¡¦s name on the envelope
„«	Put what the money is for on the outside of the envelope
„«	Put how much money is in the envelope
„«	Put any other important information on the envelope
See example:
