The Physical Education Department at Rothschild Middle School believes that consistent physical activity increases learning, enhances self-esteem, and improves health in children. Our program is designed to teach skills, knowledge, sportsmanship, and safety through an exposure to a wide variety of sports and recreational activities. We strive to create an environment that provides the opportunity to learn positive behaviors, values, and attitudes in a meaningful and enjoyable way. Teamwork, self-discipline, rules and work ethic are emphasized in daily instruction.
Students are challenged to apply concepts and skills in class through a variety of activities and game-play that incorporates fitness goals and motor skills. Emphasis is placed on these aspects through curriculum while fostering respect and responsibility for self and others through instruction. The outcome of our program is meant to produce a student who chooses to lead an active lifestyle and has the skills and knowledge necessary for lifelong participation.
Currently students are participating in volleyball. This is a team sport activity. It is being introduced to boys P.E. this year as a traditional game play activity with emphasis on specific skills.
