Monday--------Read “Broken Chain,” in Elements of Literature. Create a Venn diagram comparing and contrasting you and Alfonso.

Homework: Use each "Word to Own" word in a sentence.

Tuesday-------Discuss “Broken Chain.”
Pretend that you are Alfanzo. Write a letter to an advice column explaining one of your problems. Switch papers with a classmate and take the role of the columnist, responding with practical, encouraging advice.

Homework: Write five facts about the story using adverbs and five sentences using adverbs.

Wednesday-------Review advertising techniques. Choose one to create a magazine ad for a fictitious product that will benefit one of the characters in the story.
