Welcome to Mrs. Neary's School Notes! This week, April 28 through May 1, we will finish our study of Shakespeare
Monday:
Standard: ELA10RL1 The student identifies, analyzes, and applies knowledge of the structures and elements of dramatic fiction and provides evidence from the text to support understanding
Lesson: Students will complete a study guide on Julius Caesar, working in groups to come up with correct answers. Students will be able to use completed guides during their test on Thursday
Homework: Students should work on study guide for homework.
Tuesday:
Standard: ELA10RL1 The student identifies, analyzes, and applies knowledge of the structures and elements of dramatic fiction and provides evidence from the text to support understanding
Lesson: Students will finish study guides on their own in class, and the last half of class will be used to verbally go over study guide.
Homework: Finish any part of study guide left unfinished for grade. To be turned in tomorrow.
Wednesday:
Standard: ELA10LSV2--The student formulates reasoned judgments about written and oral communication in various media genres. The student delivers focused, coherent, and polished presentations that convey a clear and distinct perspective, demonstrate solid reasoning, and combine traditional rhetorical strategies of narration, exposition, persuasion, and description.
Lesson: We will review Julius Caesar, including themes, characterization, historical context, and Elizabethan language conventions for the test tomorrow.
Homework: To study all notes taken during lecture, and the study guide.
Thursday:
Standard: ELA10RL1 The student identifies, analyzes, and applies knowledge of the structures and elements of dramatic fiction and provides evidence from the text to support understanding
Lesson: The students will take a 42 question test on Julius Caesar, 2 questions of which will be long answer, and will account for 20 points of the test. Make sure students bring ALL notes with them to give them the best chance of a good grade
Homework: None.
Friday:
Standard: ELA10RL1 The student identifies, analyzes, and applies knowledge of the structures and elements of dramatic fiction and provides evidence from the text to support understanding
Lesson: Students will watch Shakespeare's Much Ado About Nothing, a comedy. Students are doing this so that they can compare and contrast Shakespeare's tragedies with his comedies.
Homework: To re-write and expand notes taken during the film to use on essay.
