Dear 7th Grade Parents and students,
These Schoolnotes are a general overview of future lessons. Please realize they are subject to change at any given moment due to circumstances beyond my control, however, I try to follow them as much as possible.
Tuesday, February 9th, our schoolwide field trip will take place as we attend the Columbus Cottonmouths hockey game at the Civic Center. Most of our students and staff will leave around 9:00 a.m. and we should return to school sometime after 2:00 p.m. Provisions have been provided for students not attending the game.
Wednesday, February 10th, Another surprise moment has been thrust upon us ( Please see note above regarding changing plans ). Students will be given a mock CRCT test in Social Studies. This will be a schoolwide event in Social Studies and will be used to better prepare us for the "real" CRCT in April! Thanks for your understanding and support. Students will also be given an 11-C homework assignment. They will have some time to complete this in class, however, please have them show you this at home and assist them in locating the answers as needed. Thanks!
We are now embarking on an unprecidented five day holiday. Tomorrow and Friday are now considered a Winter Break and Monday, February 15th, will be President's Day. Please enjoy this time with your students. Have them read aloud from their books; magazines, and newspapers (PLEASE NOT JUST THE COMICS!!). Classes will resume on Tuesday, February 16th. Have a great time kids but please be careful!!!
Here are next weeks lesson plans as well.
Tuesday, February 16th, students will be given board notes and an oral discussion will ensue for preparing students for exam ten over chapter ten's material tomorrow. Please make sure students go over these notes with you tonight. Have them reread the material. The notes are simply a rewriting of the exam and can serve as an excellent method of preparing for the test. Have students "explain" what they are reading
Wednesday, February 17th, after a brief time to study with a classmate and independently, students will be administered exam ten. It will have 20-25 items from the written text of chapter ten. Please ask your child tonight how they think they did on the test.
Thursday, February 18th, We will return the exams and discuss completely. Make sure your child shows you their test score tonight. Contact me if they are hesitant about revealing their test grades to you. Completed exams should be put into student's notebooks. We will begin chapter eleven on East Africa. Hopefully, we can complete section one and maybe even a little bit of section two.
Friday, February 19th, students will be given an 11-A graded homework sheet. Please assist them with the answers over the weekend. These answers can be found in the materials of chapter eleven. We will also discuss briefly the vocabulary students will be expected to encounter as we read and discuss the fascinating region of East Africa.
Contact me at mgrogers@mcsdga.net if you have questions or concerns. I hope the rest of your week goes extremely well.
Sincerely,
M.G. Rogers 7th Grade Enrichment and Social Studies Instructor.
