ATTENDANCE/MAKE-UP WORK:
Attendance is essential to success!!!! it is the student's responsibility to get/ask about make-up work or test they have missed, if their absence was excused. Students need to go to their lockers before/after school or between classes.  Understandably, it is sometimes necessary to go to the restroom, but this should not occur in our class on a daily basis. School rule regarding the students leaving the classroom will be strictly enforced.  MCSD code of conduct, school rules and classroom rules are discussed at the beginning of the semester and students contracted to comply with the rules by signing documents to that effect.  Parents are encouraged to review the rules with students periodically to ensure continued compliance throughout the course of the semester.

STUDENT EVALUATION PROCEDURES:
This class is set up on the point system.  Not all assignments will be worth 100 points.  The following is an example of an approximate point distribution for a nine week grading period:
Assignments:
Chapter tests @ 100 points each
Class work-notebook Check @ 50 points each
Daily class participation @ 10 points per active role
Other special assignments or projects etc.
On the whole, tests make up about 50% of the grade with class work/notebook checks (this includes homework and daily essential question entry), special assignments 50%.  the above applies to only 1st block.  the 2nd and 4th blocks (Repeaters class) has a slightly different grading system.  In a nutshell, the bulk of the grade depends on class tasks, assignments, homework, projects etc.  The final exam and tests only constitute 20% of the total grade.  Eash student was given details of the grading scales for these classes and contents were discussed at the beginning of the semester.  Cheating or talking during test/notebook check will result in a ZERO.
