Middle School Physical Education Mission Statement for Muscogee County School District
The mission of Middle School Physical Education is to provide every student with a degree of competence leading to the confidence that encourages them to explore and enjoy a variety of activities as well as lifetime sports. Students in middle school will experience a developmentally designed program of skills and fitness, including educational games and dances that contribute to the development of the total student.
Currently we are covering the Georgia Standards in regards to physical fitness. The current standards are below

Girl’s PE Expectations & Guidelines
Physical Education is a participation class. This means that without an excuse from a doctor or parent, you are expected to dress out and participate each day. (Note: Parent notes are only good for 1-3 days). If a student is unable to participate for longer than 3 days, a doctor's excuse must state the nature of the illness and what activities the student can and can not complete.
PE Lockers $5.00
RULES
1. Must respect other and their property!
2. Follow all directions without discussion.
3. Dress out means wear different clothes than the ones worn to school.
A. Dress out means athletic school t-shirts, shorts or sweats.
4. Dress out PROMPTLY.
5. NO gum, candy or food in the locker room, gym or PE athletic field.
6. NO one will be allowed to return to the locker room during the class period without permission.
7. Lock up all valuables, including purses, clothes and jewelry!
8. No running or horseplay in the locker room or during roll call.
9. Do not touch equipment unless given permission.
10. No jewelry will be worn during contact activities.
ENGAGING IN ACTIVIES THAT ARE POTENTIALLY HARMFUL TO SELF OR OTHERS WILL NOT BE TOLERATED.
First Offense - Verbal Warning
Second Offense - Sit out Activity
Third Offense - Sent to Office
Nine Weeks Grading Scale
A – 90-100
• No more than 2 absences or 4 non-dressed days in a 9 week period, daily participation and show good sportsmanship
B - 80-89
• No more than 3 absences or 6 non-dressed days in a 9 week period, daily participation and show good sportsmanship
C – 70-79
• No more than 4 absences or 7 non-dressed days in a 9 week period, daily participation and show good sportsmanship
69-Below F
• Irregular attendance, excessive absences and inappropriate level of participation
HEALTH EDUCATION
*Health Education classes will be held each 9 weeks this semester. There will be four sessions this year and will last 4 weeks of each 9 week period in the 2008-2009 Academic School year.

The above mentioned classes are provided to the students of Muscogee County School District as an effort to enhance our health education program as it relates to the problems of teen pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases and HIV prevention program.
Parents you will receive a DECLINE participation form from your child. Please sign if your parental wishes are that your child NOT to be a part of the Choosing the Best programs.
