Blackmon Road Middle School Band
Extra Credit is obtained through attending concerts outside of our own band concerts.  There are many free concerts available in our community such as CSU concerts as well as other public school concerts.  The student must turn in a signed program from the event or a one to two paragraph description of the event.

6th & 7th Grade Beginning Band

QCC Standards:
1. Demonstrates correct playing position and posture for chosen instrument.

4. Performs class repertoire at the expected competency level.

17.  Responds appropriately to conducting techniques used by the director.

18. Performs with characteristic tone quality at the expected competency level.

General / Daily Lesson Steps:

Homework Assignment:  Choose a number in the book to play for a test grade.

7th & 8th grade band

2. Demonstrates correct breathing, embouchure, articulation, vibrato and technical skills appropriate to the chosen instrument and developmental level.
                              
3. Participates effectively as a member of performing ensembles.
                                 
4. Performs class repertoire at the expected competency level.
                              
5. Performs music reading skills, including sight-reading, at the expected competency level.

7. Tunes instrument accurately with assistance and demonstrates an increasing awareness of good intonation.
