Week of October 13-17:

SIXTH GRADE:

A new group of students will begin Computers this week.  We will spend time going over my syllabus, rules and procedures, etc. on the first day.

We will also use Microsoft Word to create a drawing of a computer system together.

At the end of the week, we may begin learning good typing techniques in preparation for our keyboarding unit.

SEVENTH GRADE:

A new group of seventh graders will begin Computers this week.  We will spend the first day getting to know each other, going over the syllabus, rules and procedures, etc.

We will start with creating a Thinking Map in Microsoft Word about them.  Our school is trying to use Thinking Maps as a way to help students organize their thoughts; Word has a feature in it that will enable them to do this through the software.

At the end of the week, we will begin our keyboarding unit.

EIGHTH GRADE:

We are continuing our desktop publishing unit using MS-Word.  Students are creating brochures - one about BRMS, one about "All About Computers", and finally, a travel brochure.

We are continuing to work on building our speed and accuracy.

GPS TAUGHT:

Students will develop keyboarding skills by touch with speed and acccuracy.

Students will utilize word processing software.
