Parents,
We now have 3 Community Based Instruction trips for the first 9 weeks of school. Our first trip will be to Callaway Gardens. Some students will work on IEP goals and objectives while the 7th graders will work on their GPS for science. This trip is set up for September 19, 2008. I will send home a note for the cost of this trip. If you can volunteer to help us, let me know. The 7th graders will work on the GAA requirements for the GPS. They will work on Life Science standard S7L1-Students will investigate the diversity of living organisms and how they can be compared scientifically. Element-b-classify organisms based on a six-kingdom system and a dichotomous key.
Our next trip will be on September 24, 2008 to the Coca-Cola Space Science Center. Some students will work on IEP goals and objectives while the 6th graders will work on their GAA requirements for the GPS. They will work on Earth Science standard S6E2-Students will understand the effects of the relative positions of the earth, moon, and sun. Element-b-Explain the alignment of the earth, moon and sun during solar and lunar eclipses.
Our last trip for the 9 weeks will be to the Planetarium and Stevi B's pizza on October 3, 2008. Some students will work on IEP goals and objectives while the 6th graders work on Earth Science standard S6E2-Students will understand the effects of the relative positions of the earth, moon, and sun. Element-b-Explain the alignment of the earth, moon and sun during solar and lunar eclipses. At Stevi B's the 8th graders will work on Physical Science strand S8P1-Students will examine the scientific view of the nature of matter-Element b- Describe the difference between pure substances (elemetnts and compounds) and mixtures. While at Stevi B's, the 6th graders will also work on their math. They will work on numbers and operations standard M6N1-Students will understand the meaning of the four arithmetic operations as related to positive rational numbers and will use these concepts to solve problems-Element-f-Use fractions, decimals, and percents interchangeably.
We are in need of a few supplies. If you can donate any of the following items it would be greatly appreciated. These items are disposable so we can always use them. Thanks for your assistance with this.
