April 22: We are continuing our lecture and discussion of Human Growth and Development. Students have been given a grading rubric and detailed instructions for an important written report project. They are given at least 30 minutes per day and as of today, approximately 90 mins to 2 hours of classtime has been offered. In the classroom, we have reference books and the internet. Some students have been able to visit the media center during this time as well. The project is due and should be ready to turn in on May 8. This is an important assignment and your child is urged to do their very best work. Please encourage your child not to wait until the last week to start this project.
We have 2 more weekly med terms and a cumulative med terms final on May 11 unless a change is needed.
April 13 - ?
I hope you all had a wonderful break with your children. Its time to hunker down and finish the semester with exceptional results.
Our unit is on Human Growth and Development, my personal favorite. This is a long unit with tons of valuable information. The students will have a variety of learning modalities and have several opportunities to polish their grades. Most all work will be done in the classroom so please encourage your student to use their time wisely. Some students are showing signs of end-of-year let-down but we are not quite there yet!
Med terms exams continue to be once per week and a cumulative final is planned during mid-May.
For the work ethics grade, you will notice a change in how it is recorded. The point value is unchanged. I have listed the grade as the first entry to the new progress report period with 50 points. As your student loses points, I will enter the date and reason in the notes area of the grade section and subtract points from the 50 points ongoing. Please encourage your students to monitor their conduct in class during the next few weeks as spring time tends to bring out a variety of unexpected manifestations.
My next update will be at the completion of this unit. Please contact me if you have any questions.
Be well, Ms. Kees
HAPPY SPRING BREAK!!!
Just to let you know, I have given no assignments to students during the spring break. We all need a good break.
I have taken home a huge stack of projects to grade. Please be patient as I catch up on grading. This type of grading is very labor intensive and time consuming. Grades will be available to sent to you when we all return to class.
Be well, Ms. Kees
