Weekly notes and reminders:
- Friendly reminder- Students need to always tuck in their shirts, and wear a belts if they are wearing pants with belt loops. Please help enforce this at home. Also, there are more and more assignments and books being left at home. It's easy to slack off and attempt to "coast" to the finish line of third grade, but let's finish with excellence! Besides, coasting doesn't work when there's still work to be done. Remember- everything our hands find to do is a gift to offer God. What kind of gift are you giving Him?
- Summer workbook orders are due by Monday, May 5.
Reading Cluster: Plot
Objective:
-Student can identify the goal or problem, rising action events, climax, and resolution of a story.
-Student can identify significant events that lead to the climax, as well as events that connect the resolution to the climax.
-Student can explain how one event from the rising action helped to bring about the story's climax.
-Student can explain why the event chosen as the climax is the climax rather than any of the other events from the story.
Pattern: When trying to solve a problem or reach a goal, anticipation grows until something happens that influences the outcome.
Visual Tool: plot line
Processing Questions:
1. What is the main character's goal or problem?
2. What are the events that relate to the goal or problem? (rising action)
3. How is the goal reached or the problem solved? (resolution)
4. What is the turning point that leads to the story's resolution? (climax)
5. Are the problem or goal, climax, and resolution related?
6. What happens after the resolution? (denouement)
7. What one event in the story helped to bring about the story's climax?
