
Welcome to the
Fabulous First Grade!
Bible: We will begin learning about Elijah and how God blessed him. We are also continuing to learn the books of the Bible. Our hymn for May is "The Bible Stands".
Phonics: We will learn prefixes -pre and -dis. We will have a spelling test on Wednesday and an assessment on Thursday. We will then be reviewing all we have learned for the last few weeks of school. We will get a new decodable reader this week and our new spelling list will go home oh Friday. The test for that list will be on next Friday.
Reading: We will be practicing on all the different units we have studied this year. The students will be reading and making visual tools for practice in some of the skills they have learned. I will also be taking their end of year fluency assessments. We will continue to learn new poems and work on more reader's theater.
Handwriting: PRACTICE, PRACTICE, PRACTICE!
Math: We will have our asssessments on Monday. We will also be learning the differences of 1 subtraction facts, identify fractional parts of a set, and subtract 10 from a number.
Science: We will begin our study of teeth and oral care.
