Welcome back to school!  This year looks to be an exciting one for NJROTC!  Our numbers are up and the quality of young adults appear to be the best I have seen since 2002.

Let's jump in...

I sent home a NJROTC Handbook with all the cadets that has paperwork that needs to be completed and returned ASAP.  I understand if your child is unable to get a physical for several weeks.  If they are doing a sport at school and have received a physical I just need a copy for our records.  Without a physical they have limitations on doing physical training (PT) while at school. Additionally, they are unable to partake in drill meets, orienteering matches, and some field trips.  So let's get it taken care of so they can reep the full benefits from NJROTC!

There is a minimum activity fee of $20.00.  This covers items that the Navy or school will not cover.  They receive PT gear, shirt stays, shoe polish, name tag, accident insurance, and brasso.  It is a $47.00 value...  Uniforms are free and are on loan to the cadet while in NJROTC.  They are government property and must be returned upon graduation or dropping the program.  As long as the cadet takes reasonable care then there is no charge for replacement items.

Friday 29th August is our first home football game.  We do parking. trash pick up, and run the visitors concession.  I have selected the 16 cadets to fill the positions.  I try and rotate it each week so all cadets that want to participate have a chance.  Cadets earn points in community service and participation which in turn allows them to earn ribbons and hours to put towards Bright Future scholarship.

We will start issuing uniform next Tuesday 2nd Sept.  Returning cadets need to bring in item that need replacing.  First year cadets will be issued a full seabag.

The first several weeks we concentrate on three basic things:  Drill (basic), Orders to the Sentry, and Chain of Command.  These are things that the cadet must master from the 1st year of NJROTC.  They will use them for the next 4 years if they choose to remain in the program.
Additionally, I will strat collecting the Activity Fee next week also.  I accept cash, money orders, and checks.  Checks should be made out to Robert E. Lee High.
