THEATER AND DANCE APPRECIATION (TADA)

Course Description:
The purpose of this class is to increase students' understanding, appreciation and critical perceptions of theatre and dance. It is based on theatre and dance appreciation courses offered at the university. In TADA, students will learn to:
* Demonstrate performance elements of theatre and dance
* Articulate and justify aesthetic criteria for critiquing theatre and dance performances through written responses and group discussion
* Construct meaning from performances and tie relevance to personal, local, national and international issues
Musicals:
Musicals are the perfect intersection of theatre and dance, so several will be shown, analyzed and excerpts re-created in TADA. These include, but are not limited to:
* Mary Poppins
* West Side Story
* Gentlemen Prefer Blondes
* Grease
* Fosse
* High School Musical 1, 2 and 3
* Lion King (the Musical)
