Homework Sheet 4
Sept. 8 – Sept. 12
Reading:  We will begin our first themed unit “All Together Now.”  Our main story for the week will be “Mac the Cat.”  We will be focusing on making predictions and using the  comprehension skill of sequencing.  Our new vocabulary words for this week are:
go    on    the    cat    sat
at    an    bug    wet
Math:  We will begin Investigation 1 in Building Number Sense and we will begin Investigation 2 “Building Numbers in Different Ways.”  We will be counting quantities up to 20, developing strategies for organizing collections of objects so they are easy to count and using number combinations to describe different arrangements of a set of objects.

Phonics: We will be reviewing the consonants “m, s, c, and t.”  We will also be focusing on the vowel short a (at, can, cat, an).

Monday:  
Reading- Read attached Poem.  Circle all of the words that have short a.

Tuesday:
Phonics:  Make a list of short a words that begin with the consonants m, s, c, t.  
Wednesday:
Complete the attached Math activity.

Don’t forget:  Open House is THIS Thursday from 6:45-7:25!
Thursday:  No Homework Join us at Open House.  

Reading Strategy for the Week: Please practice this and the other strategies as you read at home.
Get Your Mouth Ready – get your mouth ready to say the word by making the beginning sound.
1.    Point to the words
2.    Look at the pictures
3.    Stretch out the word

CHALLENGE WORK (optional):
1.    Write a short story using this week’s vocabulary words.
2.    Write and solve your own math problem. Use pictures, words or numbers.
