Social Studies:
Today we discussed the events that took place eight years ago. We read in our textbooks about what happened and about the war in Afghanistan and Iraq.
We are continuing with our states and capitals. Most students are doing well however, some need to study starting on the day the states are given. We have two more quizzes with ten states.
Science:
We are working on the properties of matter and will have centers in class next Wednesday and Thursday. Students are learning to take notes and I will be sending them home to study sometime next week.
Mathematics:
We are continuing our unit on Polygons. Students should be able to tell you all about the different types of triangles and quadrilaterals by the end of next week. Tutoring sessions will begin in October for those who need help in math.
Please take time to check out the flashcards and the Links below. :)

Welcome Back!
We had a great first day and I'm looking forward to a great year. This is an awesome group of students and I'm sure they will accomplish great things this year.
Students came home today with a manilla folder filled with forms for parents to fill out. Please return the folder no later than Friday. When all of the forms are turned in by the student they will receive a homework pass. Homework passes are good for one subject area and one assignment.
Math - Students completed a multiplication drill. We need to work on this area. This is simply practicing the facts 3 or 4 times a day. Students need to practice 5 or 6 facts at a time and at 2 or 3 more once those are mastered.
We also discussed polygons. What they are and what they are not.
Science - Today we created posters titled, "What is a Scientist?" Students completed this activity in groups and it was quite interesting.
Social Studies - Students worked today on finding the capitals of ten southern states. Each week for the next five weeks they will have a test on ten states.
Please click on the Flashcard button for practice.
Links - There are several links listed with this page that students can visit for practice and more learning. I encourage each of you to visit them.
