They may also wish to bring a hat, water bottle, and a towel to sit on. Hamburgers, hotdogs, and snowcones will be served. Water stations will be available, all day, as well. It is the best day of the year!
Please expect a call from our Homeroom Moms soon. The End of the Year Party is Thursday, May 29. We will be having a Pizza & Ice Cream Sundae Game Day. The students may wear their PE clothes all day. I encourage the children to write meaningful sentences to show me they understand the definition of each word. Vocabulary sentences are usually due on Thursdays, unless otherwise stated.
Reading and Vocabulary Tests are usually given on Thursdays.
Spelling Tests are usually given on Fridays. In the back of your child's Spelling Book are preforated Spelling Lists that may be torn out and kept at home for practice. Students write Spelling Words 3 times (3x's each) neatly on loose leaf paper, and is due on Fridays, unless otherwise stated.
CLASSROOM RULES:
1. Be in your seats ready to work.
2. Follow directions, the 1st time they are given.
3. Change tasks quickly and quietly.
4. Do not disrupt teaching and learning.
5. Treat others considerately, as you would like them to treat you.
6. Always use good manners and kind words.
If YOU CHOOSE to disregard a rule:
1. One verbal warning.
2. 10 minutes off playground time.
3. NO playground time.
Write a note to your parents about the classroom rule YOU CHOSE to disregard and write a plan for how you can improve your behavior. You will also have to write our Mission Statement, depending on the level of your misbehavior.
BLESSED TRINITY CATHOLIC SCHOOL MISSION STATEMENT:
Blessed Trinity Catholic School provides students the opportunity to flourish in a Christian based environment through academics, spiritual growth, and service in fellowship with each other, our families and our parish.
* The number of Mission Statements is doubled for each day late.
PLANNERS & TAKE-HOME FOLDERS:
Your time to review and sign the Student Planner is very much appreciated. I check Student Planners each morning for your signature, as well as any notes or comments you may have written. The Student Planner is placed in the Red Take-Home Folder every day, along with any letters or flyers from our School Office. Please make sure your child places his/her assignments, notes for the office, lunch tickets, etc., in the Red Folder to be returned to school each day.
WEEKLY FOLDERS:
Your child’s work will be sent home every Friday in a Yellow Weekly Folder. Please review and sign the Test packet. There is a section for your questions or comments, if necessary, on the cover sheet. All class work and homework may be kept at home. Please return the signed Test Packets in the Yellow Weekly Folder each Monday.
HOMEWORK ASSIGNMENTS & PROJECTS:
Incomplete or missing homework assignments are graded as “0”. A notice informing you of your child’s late or incomplete assignment will be sent home for your signature. Late work handed in the next school day will receive half-credit and must have the signed notice attached. Projects are due on the assigned date. Eleven points will be deducted for each day late.
ABSENCE:
If your child is absent, I would be happy to send any work home with a sibling or neighbor, or have it ready for you to pick up in the office if he/she is well enough to complete it. Just leave a message with our office to let me know. Your child will have one day for each day absent to complete homework assignments.
ACCELERATED READER:
All Fourth Grade students will participate in the Accelerated Reading Program (AR). Each student will read and test on 3 AR books on their reading level. Every student should strive for an 80% accuracy rate. As AR will be included in your child’s Reading Grade as a test score, it is essential that your child read a grade-level appropriate book thoroughly before attempting to take a test. AR books can be checked out of our School library on Thursdays. If you are visiting the Public Library, a complete AR list can be found on the Blessed Trinity Website. I will be monitoring each student’s progress and test scores individually. I will try to schedule approximately 15 minutes of quality, uninterrupted reading every day. I highly recommend a minimum of 20 minutes of reading time every night. My goal is to enhance the reading program, challenge the students, encourage their love for reading, and reward them for their effort.
MATH:
It is extrememly important that the students practice Math Facts daily to strengthen computation skills. Each student has received a Fact Chart & Booklet for at home practice. Please encourage your child to practice 10 to 15 minutes each day.
