It is a pleasure to welcome you to my Language Arts class. I will make every effort to make our time together a great one while inundating you with valuable knowledge! I enjoy having the teaching and learning process occur in a variety of ways. There will be times when we are all working together, times when you will be working in small groups on certain novels and projects, and times when I allow you to help decide what you would like to study and how you will go about it. This, of course, will mean that important learning must be occurring so I hope you choose wisely when given the options and that you really challenge yourself. Rest assured, I will step in and guide you towards challenging directions regularly!
To help ensure that we have a wonderful year, please make every effort to be at school on time, daily. If you are ill, please let me know through email and make every effort to catch up within the allotted time period given. Please bring your supplies everyday. And, please show respect for everyone.
The following are basic supplies for the class:
2 Composition or Spiral Notebooks
1-11/2” Binder
Loose Leaf College Ruled Notebook Paper (year’s supply)
Highlighters
Colored Pencils
#2 Pencils (year’s supply)
Blue or Black ink pens
Tab dividers (5)
You will need to have internet access, print cartridges and paper readily available at home. Poster board and other project supplies will come in handy as well.
We will be using the textbook periodically. You will be issued a text book that you will eventually be able to keep at home. I am hoping to have class sets soon.
Donations of the following items will be very gratefully accepted and will earn you 2 free journal passes for each item or 10 extra credit points for each item to be added when you feel they are necessary.
Kleenex
Hand-sanitizer
Paper towels
Cleaners
Printer/copier paper
Students, please don't raid your own home supplies or your momma's purse for the travel pack of Kleenex (too small anyway)!! Your parents may not appreciate that too much!!
Please access Schoolnotes.com to keep informed! Please complete the “notify me” thingy at where you enter my page. It really helps to have your contact information too. (By the way, I do make good phone calls…Happy ones so don’t freak out if I call your house!)
Students must use their planners regularly to document important dates and class information. Planners are also used for hall passes and parent communication.
**Please note: I make adjustments according to the needs of the students. Always email me if you have questions.
