SPRING GREETINGS FROM THE GUIDANCE OFFICE!
FCAT Testing is right around the corner. Please be advised that there is a new policy regarding cell phones (and any/or any other electronic devices) during testing. Previous policy stated that "possession of electronic devices MAY be cause for invalidation." Due to security breaches involving the use of electronic devices, the policy now states that "possession of any electronic device that reproduces, transmits, calculates, or records IS cause for INVALIDATION." Possession is defined as "within arm's reach," even if the electronic device is not visible. For example, students should not have cell phones in their pockets, clipped to their belts, at their desks, or anywhere they can be easily accessed during testing.
HIGH SCHOOL REGISTRATION
Registration for rising 9th graders has been completed! Please contact your child’s projected high school with questions/concerns about next year. The high school guidance offices are staffed throughout the summer.
• If your 6th or 7th grade child is in danger of failing ONE academic course this year, Florida Virtual School (www.flvs.net) is accepting registration for the 2007-2008 school year. There is no fee for Florida students. Please note: THIS IS NOT SUMMER SCHOOL. Students will retake the course online throughout the school year next year during non-school hours. Please contact your child’s guidance counselor with questions.
• Check the Duval County web site, www.dreamsbeginhere.org , regularly for updated information on summer extended school year programs offered for Duval County students.
• End-of-Course Exams will be given May 7th - May 10th. Final exams will be given May 17th – 24th. There are no exams scheduled for Friday, May 18th.
• Registration for rising 7th and 8th grade students will begin soon. Check back for dates and more information!
. FCAT Wrties Plus! results are in and will be going him with the students on Tuesday, May 8th.
