Text: Prentice Hall Literature Book (Silver Edition), classroom set and supplemental materials as needed.
Supplies: You need to provide the following supplies (as soon as possible, no later than the third day of school): One 1 inch three ring binder, one package of 5 dividers, 2 spiral or composition notebooks, loose leaf college ruled notebook paper (year’s supply), 1 package of highlighters (blue, yellow, pink, green), colored pencils and or markers, #2 pencils (year supply), blue of black ink pens.
Classroom Expectations:
1. Bring your supplies to school every day, including notebook, spiral notebook/composition book, pencil/pen and a book to read.
2. Try to be present every day. Missing class makes your success more difficult. See planner for district policy for make-up work. YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR MAKING UP YOUR MISSING WORK, late work will be penalized.
3. Be on time and in your seat, working on the warm-up, when the bell rings.
4. No eating, drinking, or chewing gum in class.
5. School rules apply each and every day.
6. Take responsibility for your own actions and be respectful to everyone.
7. Be sure to read the Pirate Team Honor code. Cheating (including plagiarism) is taken very seriously, and will result in severe consequences.
Help sessions are regularly scheduled on Thursday morning from 8:30 – 9:00. If this schedule does not work for you, please see me to schedule an appointment. Each student will receive a progress report every Friday, except in the weeks that have “official” school-wide reports.
Refer to schoolnotes.com for information about class, team, and school events.
REVISED SYLLABUS:
Please be advised that students are expected to read 25 books throughout the year and keep a record in their annotated book list. I will no longer require book log summaries. Students may read any book approved by their parent (including books made into movies). It is the responbility of the student to maintain accurate records.
