Science Fair was a great success! I hope those of you that attended, enjoyed the wonderful projects by our students. The science experiments conducted by Everglades High School students were enjoyed by all.
Science continues to be very important for fifth graders, because we are having an FCAT science test in March. Science vocabulary and general knowledge is vital, therefore we are focusing on science terms and lab work to help make the subject meaningful. Please allow ten minutes a night to review previous lessons.
Volcanoes were exploding in our class. The children had a "blast" mixing baking soda, vinegar, water, and detergent. It created a delightful mess. Thank you parents for getting your children their supplies.
Extra credit projects will be offered throughout the year. These projects will utilize research skills and will correlate with the curriculum. They are assigned and posted in class. You can log on to www. Macmillanmh.com for more information.
Usernames and passwords have been assigned for FCAT Explorer. These can be located in you child's agenda front cover. Please make sure your child logs onto FCAT Explorer daily. An FCAT party is being planned for those students who have 100% completion and a score of 80% or higher. Good Luck!
Field Day is on December 17th. You are welcome to join us to cheer on the children as they compete and practice their athletics and good sportsmanship.
Communication folders will go home on Tuesdays. Please review you child's work with them to reinforce skills at home.
Sign and return your child's folder the following school day.
The holidays are approaching very quickly. We are going to be involved in making crafts that you can enjoy during this winter season. If you have any questions please do not hesitate to contact me. You can e-mail me directly at Julie.Carrillo@Browardschools.com. I hope all of you have a wonderful New Year and may it be filled with health and happiness.
