My grading scale has changed!!!! homework/reading logs 15%, classwork 15%, quizzes 20%, projects 20% and tests 30%.
DUE DATE FOR FIRST BOOK REPORT IS: Friday, September 19, 2008.
Monday,Sept. 1- Labor Day! No school.
Tuesday, Sept. 2- Period 1,2,4,5,6- Give students due dates for book reporots and pass out copies. Tell them about the change in grading scale.
Read XL cont'd. (CC, VC, Write about #3/ pd. 5, 1-3)
Wednesday, Sept. 3- Period 1-6 Media Orientation!
Period 2- 8th grade assembly in Cafeteria with Mr. Campuzano.
Introduce to the students daily analogy and reference sheet. Also discuss daily vocabulary and copy info. off the board.
Thursday, Sept. 4- Pd. 2,4,5 Discuss word maps and charts and how they can benefit students as they study. Pd. 1,5,,6- Relationships Among Word Meanings, we will discuss linear charts which help to expand vocabularies.
Pd. 2- Begin WADE testing as they work on work maps.
Friday, Sept. 5- Pd. 1,4,5,6 Students will create a spectrum wheel in groups of two. They will complete three wheels per team and share one with the class.
Pd. 2- WADE testing continued and they will work on spectrum wheel and word maps.
Homework- Your child is expected to READ each night for at least 30 minutes and document on their reading log with a parent or guardians signature. These are collected every Friday for a grade.
These plans are subject to change at the discretion of the teacher.
Friday, Aug. 29th- Create sentences that summarize the relationship between the words in the analogy.
Wrap-up Word Maps for all unknown vocabulary words. Have students complete independently the process the meaning 1-15 and apply what you've learned pages 10-11 on a separate sheet of paper.
