August 20th
Welcome back to Glades. This week in PE we will be going over the rules and issueing locks.  A rule sheet will be sent home with each student today.  Please be sure to sign and return it to me by no later than Friday.  Students will be required to wear black shorts and a grey t-shirt for class.  You can purchase one from PE department for $10 per piece.  All money raised will go towards the purchase of new equipment for the students.

The students will be issued a Cardio Log.  This is the homework assignment for the quarter.  Students are required to participate in physical activity three times a week outside of class.  The activity must be at least 15 minutes in duration.  I will give the students sample activities.  Please sign the Cardio Log when your son/daughter has completed it.  It is due the first week of October.  

August 27th

This week is the start of fitness week.  Students will be working on improving flexibility, increasing cardiovascular endurance and building muscle strength.  Students will be required to participate in a wide variety of activities including a four minute jog, push-ups, crunches, wall-sits, how-highs, side to sides and line work.  The workout will last between 20 to 25 minutes a day.  Students will be allowed to explore equipment and the gym after the workout.

Please remind students to bring their PE uniforms.  PE uniforms will be on sale all week.  Also, please remind students not to give out their locker combos.  

Continue to work on Cardio Logs.

Tip of the week:
Drink at least eight glasses of water a day to keep your body probably hydrated.

September 4th
This week the students will be working on Flag Football Skills.  They were practice route running, catching and throwing.  In addition, the students will learn the correct way to pull a flag.  The students will on variety of drills to improve these skills.  On Friday,  the rules of Flag Football will be taught as well as choosing teams for next week's tournament.  

Remember to work on your Cardio Log.

September 11th
This week the students will be competing in a Flag Football Tournament.  The students will be grouped into teams of 7.  They will compete in a 4 game regular season and then a playoff.  The students will be expected to incorporate the skills they learned the previous week into a game setting.  Cooperation and teamwork will be stressed.  Any showing up or degrading of an opponent or teammate will result in immediate removal from the activity.  

Remember students can bring hats, sunglasses and water bottles since we will be outside.  Remind your child that the hat can be only warn during PE class as per Broward County Policy.

September 17th
This week the students will continue competing in their flag football tournament.  Last week, rain and high heat indexes forced us inside for most of the week.  Hopefully we will not have that problem this week.  If the weather does not cooperate, the students will working inside on cooperative games.

Remember to work on your CARDIO LOG.

September 24th
This week the students will be working on their basketball skills.  The skills stressed this week will be dribbling, passing, shooting and defensive slides.  The students will work on their skills to be prepared for next week's basketball tournament.  

Remember the Cardio Log is due in less than one month!!

September 30th
The students will compete in a 4 on 4 basketball tournament.  Students are expected to incorporate skills learned last week into a game setting.  They will also need to demonstrate a knowledge of the rules by participating a game.

October 8th
Soccer week is here.  The students will work on developing their skills.  Passing, dribbling, defensive stance and shooting will be stressed.  Students will also learn the rules of the game.  Hopefully, the weather cooperate and we can start games next week.

CARDIO LOG DUE OCTOBER 22nd.

October 15th
Students will begin competing in soccer matches this week.  Teamwork and cooperation will be stressed this week.  Students can bring hats, sunglasses, sunblock, water, gatorade and etc., this week since we will be outstide.
