Topic: The Parthenon
Objectives: Students will be able to:
•    Make a pop-up model of the Parthenon, and then write facts about the famous temple.
•    Make a book about the greatest temple of ancient Greece.

Date: January 7-8, 2009
Topic: Review worksheets for Sections 3-4 on Chapter 4
Use  Promethean Activslate to review Chapter 4 with class for a test on Friday.

Date: January 9, 2009
Topic: Chapter 4 Test on the Ancient Greeks/Introduction of Chapter 5
Objectives: Students will be able to:
•    Use their knowledge of Chapter 4 to do their test.
•    Make their own graphic organizers of the sub-headings in Chapter 5 to record the topic, the main idea, and the supporting details of the sections.
•    Use graphic organizers as notes to summarize their sub-headings to the class.

1. Chapter 5, Section 1-Identify the main ideas from each section of the main headings. The main headings are:
Greek Mythology,
Greek Gods and Goddesses,
What was a Greek Oracle?
Greek Poetry and Fables,
Who was Aesop?
Use Journey Across Time textbook., pages 155-158

Homework Assignment: Greek God/Goddess “Web Page: Project
Research and create a “web page”, like my space or face book, of an assigned Greek god/goddess. Project will be based on the gods/goddesses of Mt. Olympus. Student will speak in first person like the god/goddess is actually designing the web page.
“About Me” information
•    Picture of god/goddess
•    Symbols or attributes of god/goddess. Identifying characteristics or facts.
•    Special talents, skills or traits that god/goddess possess.
Example: God of the moon-strong and beautiful.
Be “Creative “information
•    Section including friends and family
•    Special interest like reading
•    Age of the god/goddess
•    Birthplace etc.
Due date: Tuesday,  January 20, 2009.

January 13-15, 2009
Lesson Concept: Mixed-up Myths-Story Elements of a Myth.
Students will be able to read and enjoy a well-known Greek myth to understand the story elements of myths and to write their own original myth.
