Welcome back Class of 2008, you are on your way.

Congratulations Chimene Mathurin on being named a National Achievement Scholar.

Juniors, you should take either the April 12 ACT or the June 14 ACT.  You should also take either May 3 SAT or the June SAT.

Seniors: It's time to start applying for Florida Bright Futures.  Go to the Florida Financial Aid Application link http://www.floridastudentfinancialaid.org/SSFAD/bf/, and fill out an application.  Also, click on the FAFSA link below, and complete a FAFSA application. ( You should apply for FAFSA before March 15, 2008)http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/

    Helpful Tips:

1.     Complete and submit your college application

2.  Take the SAT and or ACT if you have not already done so.

3.  Visit F.A.C.T.S. org to check your eligibility for Florida Bright Future and to view your transcripts.  ** Remember:  You have until the end of the school year to qualify for Bright Futures.

4.  APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS! Join FastWeb and Scholarships.com and Scholarships.com if you have not already done so, and start applying for scholarships.

5.  Work on your academic resume (this should include your high school honors, accomplishments, and your extra-curricular and community involvement).

6.  Request and complete a “Getting to Know You” packet from the CAP office (you need this for your recommendation letters).

7.     Start working on getting recommendation letters (you should have at least 3, one from a teacher, one from a community organization, one from a counselor)

***Work hard in your classes and keep your grades up! Remember:  The computer freezes your grades after the 2nd nine weeks.

9th and 10th graders:  If you are interested in  College mentoring programs at either FIU or UM (Upward Bound), pick up an application from the CAP office.
