  Ch. 2, Sec. 1 - Political beginnings
  Reading - Magna Carta

Class Prep:
  After reading sections 2 & 3 of Chapter 2, do the exercises on p. 21 & 22 of your workbook. Have them ready to be checked at the start of the next class.
  This week we will cover Chapter 2. The test will most likely be given during the second half of the period on Monday, Feb 8.

  How do you and your group of friends decide what you're all going to do on a Saturday night?

Today's Plan:
  Ch. 1, Sec. 2 - different types of government & how power is distributed
  Government evaluation flowchart
  Reading - Propaganda
  Ch. 1, Sec. 3 - basic concepts of democracy . . . PLUS ECONOMICS!

Class Prep:
  Find three advertisements in newspapers or magazines (product ads, not store ads or catalogs) that use the propaganda techniques we read about in class. Attach each ad to notebook paper with your heading, identify the technique used by each ad, and write a couple of sentences explaining how the ad fits in that category. I will collect these on Tuesday as soon as you enter the classroom, and I plan to grade them while you are taking the test on Chapter 1.
  After the test, we will move on to Chapter 2.
  DON'T FORGET YOUR PENCILS AND PENS FOR THE TEST!
