  HELPFUL INFORMATION

Mrs. Rose is here on Tuesdays from 7:45-2:45.  Please complete a counselor request form and you will be called from class or if you have a question, you can e-mail at roseg@doctorscharterschool.org

Refer to your COLLEGE PLANNING GUIDE  given to you on October 16 and again at College Nite.

The web is your best friend when it comes to college searches!  All colleges have websites where you can find out important facts as well as take virtual tours of the school. Also, check out school profiles to find the criteria for admission and the qualifications of current students. A list of websites is available in the guidance office.  Of course a college visit is the best opportunity to find out about the school.  Check with the college and see what days open houses and orientation sessions are held.

DEADLINES: GET A CALENDAR! Make sure you adhere to all deadlines. Did you know that the priority deadline for your application to University of Florida was November 1 ? Any applications received after that date will only be considered on a "space available" basis so PLAN AHEAD and make sure you have taken all the necessary tests so the results will reach the school prior to the deadline date. You increase your chances of admission by sending in applications as early as possible...don't wait until the big rush of students applying!

Also, check out www.facts.org This is an excellent site where you can find information on Florida colleges and careers. You can assess your career interests and view details of various occupations.  There are links to Florida public and private colleges as well as vocational-technical centers where you can see admissions requirements  and complete applications.  You can also find financial aid and Bright Futures scholarship information.

CEEB code:  You will be asked on all college applications for this code which identifies  your high school.  Please be sure that you include this whenever it is requested.  The code is 102022

TRANSCRIPTS
Seniors...It is necessary to have a high school transcript sent to each college to which you are applying.  If you are applying to a Florida public university, your transcripts will be sent electronically.  For out of state or private universities in and out of Florida, your transcript will be sent by mail.  It is very important for you to order transcripts in plenty of time for them to be processed here and sent to the colleges.  Please fill out a transcript request form in the Guidance Office and give to Ms. Dean as soon as you are ready to apply to college.  You don't have to wait  until you send the application before requesting it. Please be aware that no transcripts will be sent if you have financial obligations that have not been paid.
